Strength & Conditioning Coach

Job Summary 

Reporting to the Head of Department, Football Science and Medicine or assigned, the Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Coach will work closely with the Football Fitness Coach and FAS Coaches to optimise the physical and fitness capacity of National footballers. The Strength & Conditioning Coach will establish and implement fitness, strength and conditioning programmes for the respective National Teams in consultation with the Football Fitness Coach or assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Operational

  • Develop, conduct and implement strength and conditioning programmes for National teams by:
    • Measuring, examining and assessing players’ and teams’ physical and fitness capacity and capability.
    • Report and interpret testing results timely to coaches and athletes, and assist coaches to make practical use of the results.
    • Planning and implementing appropriate fitness and conditioning programmes according to training and match requirements.
    • Monitoring progress of players’ and teams’ fitness and physical status.
    • Communicating and updating relevant sports science and medical professionals, team officials and coaches on the progress and outcome of players’ and teams’ physical and fitness status.
    • Plan, implement and conduct post-training and post-matches recovery programmes for assigned teams.
  • Assist with injury prevention and performance enhancement programmes of the National Team/s through:
    • Injury surveillance and documentation.
    • Recommending and providing updated scientific information of specific football injuries and injury prevention strategies and performance enhancement strategies.
    • Educating players and coaches on injury prevention and management strategies, including physical performance enhancement programmes and strategies.
  • Working and liaising closely with other sports scientists and medicinal personnel appointed by FAS in areas of nutrition, exercise physiology, rehabilitation among others for support of the teams’ physical training requirements, recovery needs and injury prevention strategies.
  • Assist with planning and promoting safe and healthy football sports.
  • Work closely with football medicine professionals to provide specific rehabilitation and conditioning programmes for injured players.

2. Strategic

  • Assist with planning, designing, organising and conducting Continue Education courses for FAS coaches, officials, exercise scientists and other relevant personnel in the areas of football fitness, strength and conditioning.
  • Lead research, development and innovation initiatives in S&C and other related areas of sport sciences.
  • Provide on-field coverage for selected training and matches of National Team/s (including overseas assignments).

3. Administrative

  • Assist with the administration of the FAS S&C facilities by ensuring cleanliness, all equipment are accounted for and maintenance schedules kept.
  • Assist with the administrative and programming aspects of internship programmes.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned.

4. Education

  • To develop and deliver educational materials, as well as to educate coaches, athletes and students through the means of workshops and courses.
  • To teach, mentor and supervise interns and trainees attached to Football Association of Singapore.

Job Requirements

We are looking for individuals who are committed to the sporting success in high performance sport.

In addition, an ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Academic qualification in Physical Education, Sport Science, Strength and Conditioning or equivalent.
    Preferably with Certified strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (Level 2) certification.
  • At least 3 years of working experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, with strong background in the application of progressive, evidence-based S & C support to individual athletes, teams and coaches, in a high-performance sporting environment.
  • Good background knowledge and understanding of other sport science disciplines such as physiology, nutrition, exercise/sport rehabilitation, and biomechanics.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, effective negotiation and consultation skills open and dedicated to engaging in respectful and effective relationship building with stakeholders from diverse sports and backgrounds.
  • Ability to educate and motivate athletes and coaches to embrace scientific support.
  • High levels of initiative and responsibility.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to work unconventional hours and undertake travel.

Sports Trainer

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head, Football Science and Medicine (FSAM), the Sports Trainer is responsible in assisting the Physiotherapist in the provision of medical related coverage for respective National Teams in training and competition.

Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Responsibility:       

  • To provide medical coverage for players and staff under the national teams umbrella in training and at competition.
  • To execute rehabilitation program of players upon advise of relevant physiotherapist.
  • To assist FSM in any other projects relevant to the development and advancement of sports medicine coverage within FAS.

Main Activities:

  • Provide effective communication on injuries to coaches and players.
  • Identify mechanisms of specific injury to allow proper treatment of injury.
  • Describe immediate injury management approaches to relevant individuals.
  • Identify possible complications and potential problems in dealing with the injury.
  • Describe the referral time and profession required for the respective injury.
  • Assist with rehabilitation of injured athletes under the direction of the team doctor or physiotherapist with periodic reviews and up till return-to-play date.
  • Expedite the referral to relevant specialist to deal with the injury.
  • Assist in the tracking if injury incidence and return-to-play rates of players within national teams.
  • To assist in the conducting of educational workshops for relevant stakeholders in the treating of minor injuries.
  • To assist in the implementation of Medical Committee initiatives throughout the federation.
  • To assist Football Science and Medicine in developing sports medicine and science capabilities moving forward.

Job Requirements

  • Candidate must possess at least Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Sports Science & Management or equivalent.
  • At least 2 Year(s) of working experience in the related field or Healthcare Sector with direct experience working with elite athletes is required for this position.
  • Required Skill(s): Standard 1st Aid and Sports Trainer Level 1 qualification
  • Formal physiotherapy/rehabilitation training is preferred.
  • Patient, gentle disposition with empathy and strong listening skills.
  • A team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to converse in English and at least one other local language (in order to conduct educational workshops for relevant local speaking stakeholders in regards with the retreating of minor injuries).
  • Personal commitment to continuous professional learning and growth.

Senior Executive / Assistant Manager, Procurement & Compliance

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Finance & Procurement (DF&P), the Senior Executive / Assistant Manager, Procurement & Compliance will be responsible for co-leading the procurement team to ensure compliance to legal and internal regulatory requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support DF&P to implement procurement and compliance strategies, policies and procedures
  • Assist in guiding the procurement team to ensure compliance to internal and regulatory requirements
  • Help to maintain department goals and KPIs to achieve business objectives for assured supply, quality and cost effectiveness
  • Assist to map through all procurement and compliance procedures & process
  • Periodically evaluate performance of appointed/approved vendors
  • Support procurement to source for more competitive/alternate vendors
  • Assist to perform Cost Analysis and set appropriate benchmarks
  • Carry out the compliance risk assessment and propose mitigation solutions, if any
  • Assist to resolve problems or issues arising from daily procurement and compliance activities
