Fast and attacking football is the way forward for Singapore

A "Singaporean style of play" will be the main focus of the Football Association of Singapore's (FAS) newly-introduced development plan for 2016 and beyond, where fast and attacking football will be the ultimate system that all Singapore age-group teams adopt.

SINGAPORE, 30 MAY 2016: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) today unveiled specific plans aimed at creating a top-class training environment which will in turn facilitate the development of quality players for the National Team.

 

PARENTS AND DAUGHTERS WELCOME NEW CAMPAIGN TO PROMOTE GIRLS’ FOOTBALL

More than 120, including parents and their daughters, attended the launch of FIFA “Live Your Goals” (LYG) campaign at LYG centres Queensway Secondary School and Bowen Secondary School over the weekend.

Targeted at girls aged between six to 15 years old, the campaign aims to inspire and keep them interested in the game.

SINGAPORE SELECTION WIN THE SULTAN OF SELANGOR’S CUP

SINGAPORE, 7 MAY 2016: The Singapore Selection today lifted The Sultan of Selangor’s Cup for the first time since 2011 by beating the Selangor Selection 4-3 in a penalty shootout after the score was tied 1-1 at full-time. In the curtain raiser match, the Selangor Veterans triumphed 2-0 to edge the series with five victories compared to Singapore Veterans’ four. The other five Veterans matches were drawn.

CHANGES TO THE SULTAN OF SELANGOR’S CUP SINGAPORE SELECTION SQUAD

SINGAPORE, 6 MAY 2016: The Football Association of Singapore would like to announce that Home United forward Khairul Nizam and Geylang International defender Faritz Hameed will not be travelling with the Singapore Selection squad for The Sultan of Selangor’s Cup this Saturday after sustaining an injury.

They will be replaced by Home United midfielder Aqhari Abdullah and defender Shamil Sharif.

TAMPINES ROVERS FC TO TAKE ON SELANGOR AT THE NATIONAL STADIUM

SINGAPORE, 26 APRIL 2016: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that S.League club Tampines Rovers FC will be hosting Selangor FA for their final Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup 2016 Group E fixture at the 55,000-seater National Stadium. Originally scheduled to be played at the 5,500-seater Jalan Besar Stadium, the fixture has been relocated following approval from the AFC. Tickets for home fans, priced from just $4 onwards, will go on sale from 12.00pm on Wednesday 27 April.

YEO’S EXTENDS S.LEAGUE CO-TITLE SPONSORSHIP FOR 13TH YEAR AND EXTENDS INVOLVEMENT IN SINGAPORE FOOTBALL

In Memoriam: Mr Hussein Aljunied

The Football Association of Singapore is saddened by the passing of former National Team coach Hussein Aljunied today. He was 73.

Mr Hussein was Singapore's coach from 1984-1986, winning the Malaysia League in 1985 and also leading the Lions to the SEA Games final in the same year.

Our thoughts are with Mr Hussein's family in this difficult time.
