SINGAPORE, 21 NOVEMBER 2015: The 20th season of the Great Eastern-Yeo’s S.League came to an exciting climax today as the title was once again – for the third time in four years – decided on the final day of the season. For only the second time in the league’s history, a foreign club was crowned league champions as Brunei DPMM FC made amends for last season’s heartbreak following an emphatic 4-0 victory over Balestier Khalsa FC in Bandar Seri Begawan.

When Singapore held much-heralded Japan to a 0-0 draw in June, a crowd of more than 57,000 fans at the Saitama Stadium were shocked into silence. However, a small group of people were cheering wildly at the final whistle – a group made up mostly of Singaporeans working or studying in Japan, or the spouses of Singaporeans.

One fan, however, had flown six and a half hours and over 5,000km from Singapore to cheer his nation on: lecturer and businessman Tan Hwee Heng.
