Andik Vermansah’s 87th minute strike proved to be the decider as the Indonesian beat the Lions for the first time in the Suzuki Cup.

His cross from the left was misjudged by Singapore goalkeeper, Izwan Mahbud, and sailed over him into the goal to send the traveling Indonesian supporters in raptures.

A result that surprised even the most loyal and ardent fans of the Lions, Singapore defeated Malaysia 3-0 in their opening match of the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup, in their own backyard.

Goals from Captain Shahril and the evergreen Aleskandar Duric sealed the three points that the Lions badly wanted for their first match to set the tone right for the rest of their campaign.

In a sea of 50,000 loud Malaysian fans, a small pocket of approximately 1,000 fans in red braved the journey and hostile atmosphere, to make the trip up to the daunting Bukit Jalil Stadium.
