FAS Names 20-Man Squad For Thanh Nien Under-21 International Football Tournament 2013

SINGAPORE, 10 October 2013: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce the squad list of the National Under-21 team that will be representing Singapore in the Thanh Nien Under-21 International Football Tournament 2013. The tournament will run from 10 to 23 October 2013 in Ninh Thuan, Vietnam. The team will compete against Under-21 teams from Sydney FC, Vietnam, Myanmar and Malaysia. Singapore will play their first match against Sydney FC Under-21 on Sunday, 13 October 2013.

Impressive performance by Singapore Youth Selection despite loss

SINGAPORE, 14th DECEMBER 2012: The Singapore Youth Selection Team lost 1-0 to the Liverpool Under-19 last night, in their opening match of the NEXLions Cup at the Jalan Besar Stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by Samed Yesil, just before the half hour mark, from close range to give the English side the victory.

The match was evenly contested with both sides having a fair share of posession as well as creating equal number of chances.

The Singapore Youth Selection Squad will be facing the Liverpool FC Under-19's later this evening in their opening match of their NEXLions Cup campaign. The tournament, which is jointly organised by the Football Association of Singapore and Kirkwall Sports, will kick-off later this afternoon, with Manchester United Under-19 squaring up against Sporting Lisbon Under-19.

Coach Aide's charges have been preparing themselves for the past one and a half months and it boils down to this day, where they will face stiff competition in the form of the physical English team.

SINGAPORE, 6 DECEMBER 2012: They are up against a formidable opponent in their opening match of the inaugural NexLions Cup, but the Singapore Youth Selection Squad head coach Aide Iskandar is confident that his team will be ready for a powerful-looking Liverpool side when they clash on 14 December at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Singapore Under-21 held to a goal-less draw by Myanmar

Th Singapore Under-21 was held by to a goal-less draw by Myanmar in their fourth match of the 2012 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy. The match kicked-off at 8.15 pm on Sunday, 4th March 2012, at Brunei's Track and Field Sports Complex.

The draw, however, was not enough to see the team through to the semi-finals of the youth competition. 

The match marks the end of the Singapore Under-21 squad's campaign over in Brunei. Out of four matches that were played, Singapore won one, drew two and lost one, and collected a total of five points.

Singapore Under-21 grabs first win at the 2012 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy

Our Singapore U21 squad has defeated the Philippines in the 2012 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy, last night at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.

Singapore took the lead in the 18th minute through Shamil Sharif and went into the break with the one-goal advantage. 

Philippines then equalised in the 55th minute through Angelo Verheye Marasigan.

Singapore then grabbed the winner deep into injury time in the 92nd minute through Dong Junming.

This is their third match played so far and it marks their first win of the campaign.

Singapore Under-21 succumbed to a 0-2 loss to Laos in their 2nd match at the 2012 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy tournament

The Singapore Under 21 squad played to a 0-2 loss to Laos in their 2nd match of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy tournament at Berakas Sports Complex on the 28th of February 2012.

The Cubs matched their opponents in all departments during the first 45 minutes but were unable to capitalise on their chances upfront.

They then conceded a goal in the 48th minute with Soukaphone Vongchiengkham of Laos putting his side in the lead.

Singapore Under-21 played to a draw in opening match of 2012 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy

The Singapore Under 21 squad played to a 1-1 draw with Indonesia in their opening match of the 2012 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy. The match was played at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, on Sunday, the 26th of February 2012.

Singapore midfielder, Faris Ramli, opened the scoring in the 11th minute to give Singapore the 1-0 lead they deserve going into half time. Indonesia then equalized, nine minutes from the end, to draw level. Both Singapore and Indonesia share points in their opening match of the campaign.

They are in Group A, together with Laos, Philippines and Myanmar.
