Tan served as the Executive Secretary, General Secretary and Director (Admin and Finance) at FAS from 1993 till 1999 when he retired.

FAS President Zainudin Nordin says, “We are deeply saddened to learn of this news. Eng Yoon contributed greatly to the Singapore sports scene during his entire career, as top athlete, coach and administrator. Till today, he continued to be a regular at our matches. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to his family.”

As a mark of respect, a minute of silence will be observed before Monday’s season-opening Great Eastern – YEO’S S.League match between the Young Lions and Woodlands Wellington at Jalan Besar Stadium.
