“Live Your Goals” Centres To Start Year With Festivals
SINGAPORE, 11 JANUARY 2017: Two FIFA “Live Your Goals” (LYG) Centres, at Bowen Secondary and Queensway Secondary Schools, will kick-start their 2017 programmes with LYG Centre Festivals on 15 January and 4 February respectively. The festivals, which will be free and open to the public, will feature a mini-tournament where girls will be grouped into teams to play small-sided games.
“The FIFA Live Your Goals programme has been a great success since it was launched last May. The number of participants has been steadily rising, which is encouraging as we are looking to increase participation in women’s football. We hope to see even more girls and their families attend the Festivals to see first-hand just how fun football is – hopefully they will be motivated to remain in the sport and be a part of the fast-growing women’s game here in Singapore,” said Ms Julie Teo, the Football Association of Singapore’s (FAS) General Manager, Grassroots, Women’s Football and Volunteer Management.
The third LYG Centre at Coral Primary School will also have a Centre Festival on 13 January, but it will only be for students of the school.
All three FIFA LYG Centres will continue to offer free weekly LYG sessions, which are open to girls aged 6-15. Participants should come down in sports attire and football boots or running/turf shoes. On-site registration is available, but interested parties are encouraged to register earlier by writing in to women_football@fas.org.sg to secure available slots.
