Comeback Rams enter final

FAS Centre-of-Excellence Under-18 Challenge Cup 2005

Woodlands Wellington secured a place in the final of the COE U18 Challenge Cup after two late goals saw them turn the tables on Tampines Rovers for a 2-1 win at Sembawang Secondary School.

The result meant that Woodlands finished top of Group A and will now meet the Group B winner for the trophy.

They were made to work for it though. Tampines took the lead through Md Abdul in the 13th minute. But Woodlands' perseverance paid off in the end when defenders Yong Zi Long (80th) and Md Azar (85th) found the net after well-worked set-pieces.

Geylang United finished as Group A runner-up after NFA U16 could only beat Paya Lebar Punggol 2-0, just one goal short of overtaking Geylang.

Geylang will now meet the Group B runner-up for the third-place playoff.

Over in Group B, Home United and Balestier Khalsa played to a goalless draw. SAFFC's clash with Gombak United was called off due to lightning risks at the Khatib Camp. SAFFC will now only need a draw to top the group and meet Woodlands in the final.
