FIFA brings Grassroots to Singapore
The Football Association of Singapore together with FIFA organised the FIFA Grassroots Proactive Course this week at the Jalan Besar stadium.
The Course is aimed at promoting the Philosophy of Grassroots Football for boys and girls aged from 6 to 12 years.
30 coaches from the FAS Junior Centre of Excellence, People’s Association, Schools,Affiliated Football Academies and Disabled Society will be attending the course conducted by FIFA Instructors Fritz Schmid and Samuel Schweingruber.
FIFA Grassroots Coordinator Jorge Diaz-Cidoncha Garcia and Guest of Honour, FAS President Mayor Zainudin Nordin were on hand to declare the course open on 16 March at the National Football Academy Conference Room at the FAS headquarters at Jalan Besar Stadium.
Taking place after the Grassroots Proactive Course will be the FIFA Grassroots Festival on 20 March at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
300 children from the various organisations will take part in the Festival where the objective will be to improve the youngsters' technique, intelligence of the game and to boost their enthusiasm for the beautiful game.
“This FIFA Grassroots Proactive Course is a major event for the local Grassroots community. 30 coaches from the FAS Junior Centre of Excellence, People’s Association, Schools, Affiliated Football Academies and the Disabled Society will be attending the course conducted by FIFA Instructors,” said Guest of Honour and FAS President Mayor Zainudin Nordin.
“Grassroots football is football for all and targeted for boys and girls aged 6 to 12 years through school, community and club. The key concept of the programme is to bring together as many people as possible through football. Playing football regularly in a fun environment will improve children’s techniques and boosts their enthusiasm for the beautiful game,” added Mayor Zainudin
