RHB EXTENDS TITLE SPONSORSHIP OF SINGAPORE CUP TO 15 YEARS

RHB EXTENDS TITLE SPONSORSHIP OF SINGAPORE CUP TO 15 YEARS

SINGAPORE, 9 MAY 2017: At today’s draw for the 2017 RHB Singapore Cup, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) and RHB Singapore announced that RHB’s title sponsorship of the tournament will be extended for three years. This will take the partnership to 15 years in 2019.

FAS Council Member Mr Michael Foo said: “We are grateful to have RHB Singapore’s unwavering support for the Singapore Cup for the past 12 years. This sponsorship renewal for the next three years is a strong show of support and commitment from RHB Singapore to help us continue developing local football, and bringing our partnership to 15 years is testament to the mutually beneficial relationship we have. We hope that more corporations will follow the lead of RHB Singapore and step forward to partner with us to raise the standards of Singapore football.”

Added Mr Mike Chan, CEO and Country Head of RHB Singapore: “RHB is pleased to extend the title sponsorship of the RHB Singapore Cup. This fifth renewal marks yet another exciting chapter of the RHB – FAS/S.League partnership, anchoring our commitment and support to the development of Singapore football. Football fans will be treated to more exciting matches with selected foreign teams participating in this year’s regional premier cup tournament that will soon take place, leading up to the Finals towards the end of the year.”

A total of 12 clubs will be taking part in the 2017 RHB Singapore Cup tournament. Apart from eight local S.League clubs, four foreign clubs – Boeung Ket Angkor FC (Cambodia), Nagaworld FC (Cambodia),  Ceres Negros FC (Philippines) and Global Cebu FC (Philippines) – have been invited to participate in this year’s RHB Singapore Cup.

The foreign clubs were drawn in the Preliminary Round of Competition against local teams Balestier Khalsa FC, Geylang International FC, Hougang United FC and Warriors FC. The winning teams in the Preliminary Round will then proceed to face the seeded teams – 2016 RHB Singapore Cup and S.League Champions Albirex Niigata FC (S), S.League 2016 Runners-up Tampines Rovers FC, Brunei DPMM FC and Home United FC in the Quarter-Final stages.

The RHB Singapore Cup 2017 Preliminary Round Draw is shown below. The Preliminary Round of the 2017 RHB Singapore Cup is scheduled to take place from 29 May to 4 June 2017. Details of the fixtures will be released at a later time.
