SINGAPORE, 13 August 2013: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) held a pre-match press conference earlier today at the Amara Hotel for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup Qualifying match between Singapore and Oman to be played tomorrow, 14 August 2013 at 7.30 pm, Jalan Besar Stadium. The panel at the press conference consisted of coaches and players from both teams. The Oman national team was represented by head coach, Paul Le Guen and team captain, Hassan Al-Ghailani. The Singapore national team was represented by head coach, Bernd Stange and vice-captain Hariss Harun, as well as Isa Halim.

Both coaches were in high spirits when asked about their teams chances ahead of tomorrow’s game. Coach Stange: “It will be very difficult, but it is an open game. Pressure will be on Oman (as they are a higher ranked team) but we will do our best. We will be in good shape tomorrow and will be able to manage something. I believe if we are motivated and if we stick together as a team, anything is possible.”

Coach Le Guen acknowledged the challenges that the Oman team is facing ahead of tomorrow’s game and is determined to ensure his team stays focused: “This period is always a little bit difficult [because of] Ramadan. Two years ago, we played at the end of Ramadan against Thailand and we were punished. We have to remember that lesson. I think it will be a tough game and I am respectful of the Singapore team. I ask my players to be focused on tomorrow’s game, because of the period [Ramadan], the quality of the opponent and the context [the artificial pitch which the team is not used to playing on] and to be prepared that it will be tough.”

Tickets to tomorrow’s match are still available. Fans may purchase their tickets from the TicketBooth’s website, the 12 TicketBooth outlets, or AXS machines island-wide until 4pm on match-day.
