2024 FAS-CGH Basic Sports Trainer Course concluded



SINGAPORE, 27 FEBRUARY 2024 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) recently concluded the Basic Sports Trainer Course, which was organised in collaboration with the Singapore Sports Medicine Center at Changi General Hospital (SSMC @ CGH) and the Singapore Sports Medicine Center @ Singapore Sports Institute (SSMC @ SSI). Held from 14 to 16 February 2024 at the Seminar Room of Jalan Besar Stadium, the course provided all 16 participants with comprehensive insights into crucial aspects of sports training and injury management.



Under the guidance of Senior Principal Physiotherapist, Elaine Gomez, and Principal Physiotherapist, Huma Kathiwala, the 3-day course covered the following topics:

  • the Role of a Sports Trainer in Injury Prevention
  • the Role of a Sports Trainer in Management of an Injured Athlete
  • Introduction to Basic Anatomy
  • Introduction to Basic Massage
  • Basic On-Field Management



Participants also engaged in discussions, practical applications, and scenarios to ensure they could apply their knowledge effectively in real-world situations. To ensure that participants were well-prepared to handle their roles effectively, the course concluded with both theory and practical assessments. These evaluations aimed to gauge the competency of each participant in injury prevention and management.
