2024 FAS Introductory Coaching Course (AAS 1) concluded

SINGAPORE, 17 MAY 2024 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) recently concluded the 2024 FAS Introductory Coaching Course Academy Accreditation System One (AAS 1) held from 23 to 25 April 2024 at the Kallang Football Hub. This course, specifically designed for coaches from the AAS, aims to equipping coaches for the demanding coaching requirements of the Singapore Youth League by 2026.

Led by the mentorship of Lead Coach Developer, Mr Abdul Musawir, and Assistant Coach Developer, Mr Nazri Nasir, the course provided aspiring coaches with a glimpse into the demands of higher-level coaching.

 

Throughout the course, all 28 participants delved into essential theory topics such as “Coaching Process” and “Coaching Methods”, while practical sessions covered crucial aspects including “S.M.I.L.E.S.” and “Components of Progressive & GAG”. A highlight of the course was the opportunity for participants to plan and deliver a coaching session, receiving constructive feedback from experienced Coach Developers.

Reflecting on their experience, Mr Ashwin Unnithan, one of the course participants, emphasized the significance of the course as a precursor to further coaching endeavors: “The FAS Introductory Coaching Course is an essential and necessary course that serves as a precursor to the FAS/AFC ‘C’ Diploma Coaching Course. It prepares participants by giving them a preview of what’s to come in their coaching journey while educating them on coaching points that are highly relevant.

 

He continued: “There is a very big difference between merely facilitating sessions and actually coaching and this is one of the many takeaways I have from this course.  A big thank you to our course instructors, Coach Musawir & Coach Nazri for all the guidance and knowledge shared”.

Echoing similar sentiments, Muhammad Saddique S/O Mohamed Meerasha expressed his appreciation for the course’s delivery and its role in shaping aspiring coaches: “As a footballer and coach who appreciates the fundamentals of the beautiful game, I was impressed with the delivery of the FAS Introductory Coaching Course by the Coach Developers. The coaching principles and methodologies of the modern evolved game we now come to see combined with real-time assessment for all participants during the course levels the playing field for everyone seeking to get a grasp of how to be an accomplished coach to bring out the best in their respective teams.

 

He continued: “I am definitely seeking to pursue the FAS/AFC ‘C’ Diploma Coaching Course and contribute to grooming more talents for our nation. I wish to convey my special thanks to our Coach Developers Musawir and Nazri for their patience, insights, and delivery of this course together with the FAS CED Department for the successful facilitation of this course. I am looking forward to equipping myself with more knowledge and pushing myself to greater heights.”

 

Lead Coach Developer, Mr Abdul Musawir, commended the enthusiasm of the participants and emphasized the vital role they play in Singapore’s football ecosystem: “Interacting with these enthusiastic coaches truly showcases the dynamic football environment in Singapore. It’s a space where passion and purpose intersect, empowering every committed coach to shape the future of Singapore football. Wishing them all the best in their coaching journey”.

Looking ahead, participants will now proceed to be mentored by approved FAS/AFC ‘C’ Diploma holders for at least six months, paving the way for their consideration in the next available FAS/AFC ‘C’ Diploma Coaching Course. With the success of the 2024 FAS Introductory Coaching Course, the FAS is committed to conducting more such courses in 2024 to meet the growing demand and enthusiasm from the football community.
