Announcement of Squad Lists and Fixtures for Austria Training Trip
SINGAPORE, 1 JULY 2014: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that the senior National Team (NT) and the Under-23 National Team (U-23 NT) will be going to Salzburg, Austria, on a training trip from July 7-23 as part of their preparations for the year-end ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup and next year’s South East Asian Games.
During the 16-day trip, both teams will each play three friendly matches against European club sides, including German team Borussia Dortmund and Russian clubs Dinamo Moscow and Torpedo Moscow.
Bernd Stange, Head Coach of National Teams, is delighted that his players will get to face professional European clubs. He said: “It is an excellent opportunity for our players to be playing against European professionals.
“Having daily training in such an ideal environment and playing against good players will definitely help in our preparations for the AFF Suzuki Cup at the end of the year. I am also using this trip as an opportunity to select the best players for the big match against Juventus on 16 August.”
Aide Iskandar, Head Coach of the Under-23 National Team and Courts Young Lions, also appreciates the chance to bring his charges to Austria.
“Playing against top teams like Borussia Dortmund will help our players understand where we are at this early stage of their development,” he said.
“Hopefully, they will be inspired to improve themselves after this trip. I know my boys will be up for it and this will be a golden opportunity for them to show what they can do. I’m looking forward to it.”
