Appointment Of Deputy General Secretary (Strategy & Engagement)

SINGAPORE, 3 AUGUST 2017: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) today announced that Mr Yazeen Buhari has been appointed Deputy General Secretary (Strategy & Engagement) effective today. This is Yazeen’s second stint at the FAS, having previously been Head, Development before joining the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) last year, and the FAS is very pleased that Yazeen has come back to serve Singapore football. Yazeen has an extensive background in sports administration, with a CV that includes Sport Singapore and Singapore Athletics.

“I am very happy to be back with the FAS, to work with the new ExCo and Council. I have confidence and also share in their vision to improve Singapore football at all levels, and to bring our national teams to greater heights. I believe that the experience which I have gained in my time with the AFC will help me in my new role. It is a very exciting time now with the new Council in place, and I look forward to working with them and my other colleagues to bring Singapore football to greater heights,” said Yazeen.

Vice-President S Thavaneson welcomes the return of Yazeen back into the FAS fold, adding: “The FAS Council is very pleased that Yazeen has decided to re-join the FAS. We are confident that he will add value, and we look forward to working with Yazeen.”

Among his key responsibilities will be supervising the implementation of the FAS Strategic Plan 2017-2021, leading the FAS’ efforts in engaging and managing key stakeholders of Singapore football, and working with regional and international bodies including partner Associations, FIFA, the AFC, and ASEAN Football Federation.
