Coaching

The Coach Education and Development Department facilitates learning by harnessing coaching knowledge, application of skills and demonstration of values and habits.

A range of essential courses are provided to ensure the latest information, resources and skill execution can be imparted to all football coaches. This is an integral part of overall football development as coaches play a key role in nurturing players, teams and the game at all levels.

We aim to set the highest possible benchmarks for all coaches to embrace the best ethics and methodologies in coaching, and we constantly strive to raise the overall standards of coaching proficiency and competency.

The courses often receive overwhelming responses and as a result, the available slots are filled up quickly. These courses have also attracted many newcomers who are interested to further their interest in coaching education.

Participants in the courses come from diverse backgrounds, although they do have to be at least 18 years of age. These include former and current national players, players from the Singapore Premier League and amateur clubs, academy and grassroots coaches, educators, volunteer coaches and parent volunteers.

Currently, the FAS conducts the following Coaching Courses: FAS Introductory Coaching Course, FAS/AFC ‘C’ Diploma, FAS/AFC ‘B’ Diploma, FAS/AFC ‘A’ Diploma, FAS Grassroots. In addition, specialised courses such as Goalkeeping and Fitness are also conducted. These courses are usually held on an annual or bi-annual basis. The coaching pathway can be found below.
