Fans Take Pledge To Affirm Support For LIONSXII
SINGAPORE, 11 AUGUST 2014: The LionsXII today held a 12th Man Pledge ceremony at the Jalan Besar Stadium ahead of the 2014 Malaysia Cup campaign. Twenty of the newest 12th men of the LionsXII from Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities pledged their support for the team, along with the players and another 20 die-hard fans.
The event was held to gather supporters, sponsors and friends of LionsXII – the 12th man – to boost the morale of the players through their support of the team. After the pledge, the 20 new supporters participated in an interactive session with the players before their training session.
“I am heartened to know that the fans stayed with us through a difficult season. I want to pay special tribute to the fans, especially those who attend every match, even away games. Your support has definitely been felt and heard, and is greatly appreciated by every single one of us in the team,” said LionsXII head coach Fandi Ahmad.
“Our 12th man – our fans, have been unwavering in their support of the team. Even when some results didn’t go our way, our fans remained steadfast in the support of the team. The young players need this type of the support and they are fortunate to have it.” said Mr Zainudin Nordin, President, Football Association of Singapore.
“I also want to pay special thanks to our sponsors StarHub, Kingsmen, Halal Foods International and Stamford Tyres. Your sponsorship of the team is the clearest sign of your pledge as the 12th man,” he concluded.
All LionsXII home matches in the Malaysia Cup (played at Jalan Besar Stadium) will now kick off at the revised time of 7.30pm. Fans may purchase their tickets from TicketBooth’s website (http://www.ticketbooth.com.sg), the 12 TicketBooth outlets, or AXS machines island-wide until 4.00 pm on matchday.
