FAS-CGH Basic Sports Trainer Course concluded

SINGAPORE, 16 SEPTEMBER 2023 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) recently concluded the Basic Sports Trainer Course, which was organised in collaboration with the Singapore Sports Medicine Center at Changi General Hospital (SSMC @ CGH). Held from 17 to 19 August 2023 at Jalan Besar Stadium, the course aimed to empower sports trainers with knowledge and expertise in injury prevention and management.
The course was led by two physiotherapists from SSMC @ CGH: Senior Principal Physiotherapist Elaine Gomez and Principal Physiotherapist Huma Kathiwala. Over the span of three days, course participants delved into various aspects of sports training and injury management.

The curriculum covered the following key areas:
- The Role of a Sports Trainer in Injury Prevention
- The Role of a Sports Trainer in Management of an Injured Athlete
- Introduction to Basic Anatomy
- Introduction to Basic Massage
- Basic On-Field Management

Participants also engaged in discussions, practical applications, and scenarios to ensure they could apply their knowledge effectively in real-world situations. To ensure that participants were well-prepared to handle their roles effectively, the course concluded with both theory and practical assessments. These evaluations aimed to gauge the competency of each participant in injury prevention and management.
