Participants at the FAS Grassroots Level 1 Course, 6 March 2022
SINGAPORE, 7 MARCH 2022 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) successfully concluded a FAS Grassroots Level 1 Coaching Course over the weekend for Admiralty CSC, an FAS-affiliated member club.
Eighteen participants were in attendance during a theory online session on 5 March before they underwent a practical session the next day at the Uber Sports facility at ORTO, located at Khatib. The practical session was conducted in strict compliance with the current COVID-19 measures, where all involved adhered to the current safe management measures and produced negative Antigen Rapid Test results prior to commencement.
The entire course was conducted under the mentorship of FAS Coach Developers, Mr Shasi Kumar and Mr Toni Teo. Mr Vikram Nair, Member of Parliament for Sembawang Group Representation Constituency and Adviser to Admiralty Grassroots Organisations, graced the practical session.
This is the second Grassroots course conducted this year, with the first being held in February for local football academy First Kick Academy, which saw 10 participants in attendance. Last year, Grassroots courses had also been conducted for SportCares youth, ActiveSG Football Academy, Singapore Cricket Club and Singapore Sports School.
FAS Head of Coach Education and Development, Mohamed Zainudeen Hassan, said: “We are happy to be able to conduct this Grassroots course for Admiralty CSC and have lined up another three such courses in the first half of this year for three more of our affiliates, who have contacted us recently.
“As we encourage more participation in coaching courses and increase the number of coaches here, we also make sure to stay in contact with the participants through the clubs or academies so that we can monitor and aid their progress as coaches.”
