FAS partners with ITE Central for coaching course
SINGAPORE, 4 JANUARY 2019 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) marked the start of the year with the FAS ‘C’ Coaching Certificate Course, conducted in partnership with ITE College Central. This is the first time that FAS is collaborating with an education institution to conduct a coaching course.
Having commenced on Wednesday 2 January, the course is aimed at developing coaches to train young players aged 10-13 and introduce coaches to basic coaching principles, methodologies, and processes. The course will conclude on Friday 11 January.
Coaches were also introduced to the idea of using volleyballs for heading drills. Volleyballs, which are lighter in weight, will be more suitable for young players – especially when they practise heading repeatedly during training – to reduce the risk of any possible injuries.
A total of 26 participants – including National Team player Shahril Ishak and former National Team player Shi Jiayi – are part of the course conducted by AFC Coaching Instructor S. Subramani.
The FAS will be conducting three FAS ‘C’ Coaching Certificate Courses in 2019. More details on the courses can be found here.
