Share

In line with the Football Association of Singapore’s (FAS) Strategic Plan, we are always looking at enhance the capabilities of our young players. Apart from our youth development programmes which commence from the Junior Centre of Excellence Under-6 age-group onwards, we also place strong emphasis on mentorships – where senior and experienced players may be registered to play for our teams, including the Courts Young Lions and LionsXII, with the key objective of guiding their young teammates.

Baihakki Khaizan has been a key player for the National Team during the past decade and was among the key members of the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup and 2013 MSL-winning teams. Following the announcement that he had been de-registered by Johor Darul Takzim F.C. (JDT 1) last week, our national team coaches discussed the possibility of having Bai for one of our teams for the remainder of the 2014 season – subject to agreement by all relevant parties. Apart from ensuring that he remains competitively and physically fit in the lead-up to the year-end Suzuki Cup, our interest in signing Baihakki is also due to the key role he will play in guiding our young players in the team.

We are in the midst of discussions with the relevant parties, and we will make a further announcement in due course.
