FAS’ reply to media queries on NFA U14 coach Stephen Ng’s departure from FAS
Coach Stephen Ng was seconded to FAS earlier this year, following the withdrawal of Gombak United FC from the 2013 S.League and Prime League competitions. His contract began in March this year and would expire on 31 December 2013. Since he joined us earlier this year, he was tasked, among others, to support the NFA Under-14 team as they prepare for the Asian Youth Games which recently concluded. Stephen informed us earlier this week that he had received a good overseas opportunity, and that he would be keen to take up the challenge. We accepted his request taking into consideration that the team is not participating in any other international tournaments this year.
While it is not our policy to comment on contractual details, it suffices to say that any resigning employee has to fulfill the terms stipulated in the letter of employment.
Coach development is a key priority for us and we are pleased to note that Stephen has been appointed to a challenging post and we wish him the best in his new post. We are encouraged by the progress of our coaches in recent years and are heartened that more coaches have been offered overseas coaching opportunities. Going forward, we will continue to groom and develop our coaches which will further raise the level of footballing standards in Singapore.
