FAS’ reply to Media Queries on sending a team to the 2014 Asian Games
The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) recognises that it is an honour and a great privilege for our young players to represent our country in international competitions, including the Asian Games where football is an Under-23 tournament with a maximum of three over-aged players allowed.
As it is part of our youth development plans to expose more young players to top class competitions, we are keen to participate in the Asian Games 2014. As such, we will be submitting an official appeal by this week. We hope that the Singapore National Olympic Council will approve our appeal to participate in this competition, which will enable our top young players to compete against the top youth teams in Asia.
In addition to the appeal, we are working closely with all stakeholders to organise matches against top international opponents, whom we have identified, for our team. We will make an announcement at an appropriate time.
