FAS’ Reply To Media Query Regarding FAS Presidency Elections

Share

“The amendment to the FAS Constitution is still work in progress after inputs are being received from our key stakeholders, in particular FIFA. The inputs received are being studied and further clarifications needed will be sought. We are and will continue to be in close communication with FIFA for any further inputs and amendment to be made. Once the amendments are being crystallized and ready to be tabled for amendment at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EOGM), we shall notify all concerned accordingly. As this is the first time in the history of the FAS that an election of the Council members will be conducted, naturally the nature of the amendment and its repercussions / implications with connected provisions of the Constitution and the processes take a little more time than anticipated.

“The election shall be held at an appropriate time after the EOGM and after the relevant regulatory bodies have endorsed the amendment as approved by the EOGM. The election will be called for by the Executive Committee thereafter. We have received enquiries from various parties as regard the election and we will make the announcement when we are ready to do so.

“Before the material time of the EOGM for the amendment of the Constitution, all persons interested in or entertaining any idea of taking part in the election would have been well appraised of the criteria for the office of the Council.”
