FAS’ Reply To Media Query Regarding The Island Wide League 2017
“In line with our plans to further develop football at all levels and provide more playing opportunities for our footballers, the 2017 National Football League (NFL) will comprise two divisions with 12 teams playing in each division. Clubs which participated in the Island Wide League (IWL) in 2016 will now compete in NFL Division Two where they will get to play more matches; as such, there will be no IWL for 2017. The voting rights of all existing member clubs will remain intact.
“The new two-division NFL format was first announced to all clubs by the Deputy Chairman of the Football Association of Singapore‚Äôs (FAS) Competitions Committee Mr S. Thavaneson in September last year.”
