FAS’ reply to query on whether the “vanishing spray” for referees to mark free kick distances will be implemented in the S.League

“The ‘vanishing spray’, in my opinion, is a good product. In fact, it has been in use for some time in the South American leagues. It is to mark the 9.15m distance for free-kicks to prevent encroachment by defending players. As a result, many good goals have been scored from the 9.15m distance. We are still studying the product closely to decide if we will introduce the ‘vanishing spray’ in the S.League,” said Mr K. Visva Nathan, Head of Referees.

There is no timeline for any decision to be made.
