FAS’ reply to TODAY Voices: FAS will continue to improve systems and procedures

Share

We thank Mr Chan Siang Ming for his letter (“FAS has not learnt from past lessons”, 18 June 2013) as published in TODAY Voices.

Both the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) and our players support National Service which is critical to national security and is a mandatory obligation all Singapore male citizens 18 years of age and above must perform. In this regard, I am pleased to note that our players, who are undergoing or have underwent National Service, have always served with pride and dedication.

We agree with Mr Chan that much work can be done to improve our systems and procedures in football administration. Like any other organisation, we are always learning from experience and looking at ways to enhance our efficiency. We will also continue to review our current processes and procedures, which include leave management for teams and players who are not part of the National Service Sportsmen Scheme. At the same time, we will continue to engage the relevant agencies on a case-by-case basis to request for time-off which will allow the players who are serving NS to continue playing football on a regular basis.

We thank Mr Chan for his views and we look forward to his continued support.
