FAS response to media query on Singaporean coaches
“The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased and proud to note the achievements of Singaporean coaches who have secured various coaching and other technical appointments overseas. This indicates that the coaching ecosystem here is capable of producing qualified personnel who can contribute not only locally, but also represent Singapore abroad. Coaches who have the opportunity to work in a different country stand to gain valuable experiences that will certainly broaden their horizons, which is definitely a positive for Singapore football.
“In order to cater to growing demand, the FAS Coach Education & Development (CED) department works tirelessly to plan for and provide a range of essential coaching courses. This ensures that the latest information, resources and skill execution can be imparted to all football coaches. The courses often receive overwhelming responses and the FAS CED does its utmost to meet the aspirations of all interested applicants, including organising courses specially curated for interest groups and/or key stakeholders. FAS works closely with the Singapore Coach Excellence (SG-Coach) Programme to deliver courses as well. We are one of the few sports associations providing Level 1 Full Integration courses and are currently working towards achieving Level 2 and Level 3 Full Integration courses in the near future.
“There are 924 licensed coaches in Singapore currently. Twenty-four local coaches hold the FAS/Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Pro licence; 18 coaches are currently undertaking the FAS/AFC PRO Diploma Course, which is in its latter stages towards full completion. It may be noted that the FAS earlier this week became the latest Member Association to be conferred with Pro License memberships under the AFC’s Coaching Convention.”
