“Three of our U23 players have been ruled out from participating in Singapore’s first match of the ASEAN Football Federation U23 Championship 2022 scheduled for tomorrow.

“Raoul Suhaimi, Farhan Zulkifli, and Zamani Zamri have returned positive Covid-19 results from their respective scheduled polymerase chain reaction tests since arriving in Cambodia. The three players have been moved to a local quarantine facility to recover.

“Meanwhile, team captain Jacob Mahler, who was a roommate of Farhan, is currently isolating in his room. Jacob, together with the rest of the team delegation are also closely monitored.

“Head Coach Nazri Nasir said: “It is unfortunate that we are in this situation now, as everyone from the backroom staff to the players have sacrificed a lot to play at this tournament. We have been working on the game plan to face Thailand for the past few days and I will have to relook our approach for tomorrow’s game in light of current developments. Our immediate concern and priority are on the health and safety of my affected players, as well as the rest of the team. We will continue to take all the necessary precautions but are doing our level best to manage the situation.””
