FAS’ response to media query on SPL clubs’ late payment of players’ salaries

Share

“The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) disburses funding to the Singapore Premier League (SPL) clubs as a subsidy. As the subsidies are public funds, the FAS places strict emphasis on clubs’ adherence to the submission of a number of essential documents, prior to any disbursements. Any delay in, or submission of documents that do not meet the mandatory requirements, will consequently affect the disbursement of the subsidies.

“The subsidies are intended to supplement the clubs’ own income sources, and we are glad to note that most SPL clubs, particularly in this year, have found ways to further enhance their revenue generating initiatives to sustain their operations adequately.

“We will continue to monitor and assist clubs to resolve such issues relating to governance and financial matters.”
