FAS’ response to query on Shakir Hamzah’s exclusion from squad
“It is unfortunate that as a result of a lapse in discipline, I had to drop Shakir from the squad. It was not a decision that I took lightly given that Shakir is a key player for us but as the team coach, I have to establish ground rules which are applicable to all the players in the squad.
“I have spoken to Shakir personally about this matter, he has accepted the decision and apologised to the coaching staff as well as his fellow team mates. The matter is now considered to be resolved and the team is fully focused on the preparation to face Qatar in tomorrow’s friendly match.”
