FAS To Kick Off Singapore Football Week With Friendly Match And Movie Screening
SINGAPORE, 20 JULY 2017: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) will kick start the festivities for the inaugural Singapore Football Week with a curtain raiser match between the Ex-Singapore Internationals and a Celebrities and Fans team, followed by a screening of ‘Kallang Roar’ on Saturday 22 July at Jalan Besar Stadium. Held in celebration of the FAS’ 125th anniversary, admission for the events is complimentary.
The opening match will feature Members of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC Seah Kian Peng and Edwin Tong, alongside two lucky winners of a social media contest to find the strongest Singapore supporters pitting their skills against Singapore legends such as Fandi Ahmad, Samad Allapitchay and S. Subramani. Five pairs of tickets to an International Champions Cup match and a pair of passes to watch Chelsea FC, FC Bayern Munich and FC Internazionale Milano at training will also be up for grabs during half-time.
After the match, fans will be able to take a trip down memory lane by watching ‘Kallang Roar’, a 2008 film on former National Team coach Choo Seng Quee, as they enjoy complimentary snacks.
FAS President Lim Kia Tong said: “We have lined up a series of exciting activities to engage football fans, with the curtain raiser match and the movie screening to start us off. I hope that fans will join us at Jalan Besar Stadium on 22 July as we watch the beautiful game not only on the pitch but onscreen. There are few other sports that bring people together the way football does, and we look forward to opening the Singapore Football Week’s activities with everyone.”
