FBT Extends Partnership To All FAS-registered Referees
SINGAPORE, 8 SEPTEMBER 2017: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) today announced that its partnership with FBT has been extended to include all FAS-registered referees. Effective from this month, all referees officiating in FAS tournaments and matches will be uniformly attired in FBT apparel, as is already the case with S.League referees.
FAS President Mr Lim Kia Tong presented the referees with their attire – provided by the FAS in partnership with FBT – at a Referees Engagement Session held at Jalan Besar Stadium on 7 September 2017. The engagement session was also attended by FAS Referees Committee Chairperson Mr Lim Tong Hai and FAS Council member Mr Michael Foo.
This new initiative, spearheaded by FAS President Mr Lim Kia Tong and the FAS Council, was introduced to enhance the professionalism of all registered referees as they play vital roles in administering and enforcing the Laws of the Game during matches.
FAS President Mr Lim Kia Tong said: “We believe that match officials should be suitably and professionally attired while they carry out their duties, regardless of whether they are officiating S.League or other matches. We hope that this initiative will serve as an additional source of motivation for our referees to continue scaling greater heights.”
Mr Daniel Wong, an FAS National referee, was appreciative of the gesture.
“Having official apparel provided for us while we are officiating matches is a wonderful gesture. It shows that the management and Council of the FAS are actively thinking of ways to help us in our refereeing journey, and I believe it will spur all of us on to continue doing our best,” said Mr Wong.
