First of two-part FAS Goalkeeping ‘C’ Certificate Coaching Course concluded

SINGAPORE, 19 SEPTEMBER 2023 – The Coaching Education and Development Department (CED) of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has recently concluded the FAS Goalkeeping ‘C’ Certificate Coaching Course (Part 1).

Led by Goalkeeper Coach, Ahmadulhaq Bin Che Omar, the course was designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge through technical, functional, and integrated activities necessary to foster the growth and development of goalkeepers in their teams.

Over the three-day course, which was held from 18 to 20 August 2023, all nine participants actively engaged in leading practical sessions. They worked collaboratively in groups to create and deliver session plans. Before putting their plans into action, course participants had valuable consultation sessions with Coach Developers. These consultations allowed them to fine-tune their session plans and ensure they were in line with best practices in goalkeeping coaching.

National player Erlinawaty Dewi Binte Jaffar, one of the course participants, expressed her satisfaction, saying, “It was a great learning environment. Both practical and theory sessions were elaborative and well explained by instructors in charge.”

Muhammad Firdaus Bin Mohamed, another participant, acknowledged the course’s modern approach: “The course was conducted in the modern way of football, using technology & new tools of education.” He also emphasized the course’s significance for coaches, highlighting its potential to improve and educate team goalkeepers.

Che Omar Ahmadulhaq, the Goalkeeping Coach, reflected on the course’s success, concluding: “Part 1 of the course was to share the knowledge of being a goalkeeper coach and to understand the goalkeeper needs. Participants have been both receptive and responsive, which was our aim and it makes the course pleasant and smooth.”

Theoretical lessons were also conducted, August 2023. 

The second and last part of the FAS Goalkeeping ‘C’ Certificate Coaching Course will be held from 24 to 26 November 2023.
