Five SPL players feature in Singapore squad for AFF Under-19 Championship
SINGAPORE, 29 JUNE 2018: A squad of 22 players have been called up for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-19 Championship to be played from 1-14 July 2018 in Surabaya, Indonesia.
Singapore has been drawn in Group A, alongside Thailand, hosts Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos and the Philippines. The team will kick-start their campaign on 1 July against the Philippines.
Head Coach Rob Servais said: “While quite a few players are unable to join us in this tournament, we have put together a young team that has adequate experience – including five players who have played in the Singapore Premier League. We will be facing tough opponents, but the boys we have called up have been playing and training regularly in their respective competitions. We will have to be creative, disciplined and hardworking but we will put up a strong fight in this international tournament.”
