Football With A Heart (FWAH) Proves A Success Again
SINGAPORE, 31 JANUARY 2015: Football With a Heart 2015 (FWAH), an executive five-a-side football charity fund-raiser event organised by Singapore Pools, the Football Association of Singapore and Sport Singapore, proved to be a success once again as it raised S$768,000 for its beneficiaries.
Fifty–eight teams took part in this year’s Corporate Tournament which was held at the Jalan Besar Stadium. Thanks to the overwhelming response, two Corporate Tournaments were organised – one in the morning, and the other in the afternoon to accommodate the number of competing sides.
There was also a Celebrity Tournament featuring the Japanese Association of Singapore, Team ASME, Team Public Service and a Parliament Team featuring Parliamentarians Mr Teo Ser Luck, Mr Seah Kian Peng, Mr Zaqy Mohamad, and Mr Faisal Abdul Manap, and a six-team Youth Tournament featuring sides from Camp Vision, Blue Xephos, FAS Care United, SCS All Stars, Sport Cares and Stan Chart Youth.
The morning tournament was won by NCS who defeated Oracle 2-1 in the final. In the afternoon, OCBC beat Deloitte 3-1 to lift the trophy.
The Celebrity Tournament was won by the Japanese Association, while Sport Cares emerged champions in the Youth Tournament.
This year’s FWAH has already raised more than $750,000 so far for its designated charities. The 10 beneficiaries this year are Bo Tien Welfare Services Society, Care Community Services Society, Care United, Children‚Äôs Charities, Peace Connect, President’s Challenge, Singapore Cancer Society, SPD, Sport Cares and Swami.
