SINGAPORE, 10 June 2015: A total of 14 teams gathered at Yio Chu Kang Primary School last Wednesday (3 June) to participate in the Singapore Primary Schools Sports Council/FAS Inter-School 5-a-side Junior and Senior Girls Football Fiesta 2015.
It was an exciting and fun-filled morning at Yio Chu Kang Primary as the girls gathered on the field for one sole purpose – to have fun. They never seemed to run out of energy as they played one 10-minute match after another. Even for those who had lost their matches, it was clear that their spirits were far from dampened as they walked out of the field with huge grins and smiles.
The young girls also displayed great sportsmanship and care and concern for one another by helping their competitors to get back up on their feet whenever they took a tumble on the pitch.
In the Junior Category, Telok Kurau Primary School emerged champions. Cedar Primary School was the runner-up while Ngee Ann Primary School and Haig Girls School finished third and fourth respectively.
In the Senior Category, Cedar Primary and Telok Kurau Primary both put on a relentless fight in the final and the game ended in a draw at full time. CedarPrimary eventually prevailed when the match went into penalty kicks. Yio Chu Kang Primary School finished third while Yangzheng Primary School took fourth spot.
