SINGAPORE, 27 MAY 2021 – Ikhsan Fandi will not be involved with the Singapore Men’s National Team for their forthcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup China 2023™ qualifiers.
The 22-year-old striker sustained an injury during pre-season with his Norwegian club, FK Jerv and while the hope was that he would recover in time to link up with the Lions, further assessment has now ruled him out of the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 matches.
The Lions are currently in Dubai as part of their preparations for their three remaining Group D matches, which will be held in the centralised venue of Saudi Arabia. These will be against Palestine (3 June), Uzbekistan (7 June) and Saudi Arabia (11 June).
