In Memoriam: Mr Arshad Khamis

SINGAPORE, 12 OCTOBER 2018: The Football Association of Singapore is saddened by the passing of Singapore football icon Arshad Khamis.
Mr Arshad represented Singapore in 1970s and 1980s, playing for the late Uncle Choo Seng Quee and Jita Singh. He was a prolific striker in his heyday, playing alongside the late Dollah Kassim and Samad Allapitchay, and inspired generations of footballers.
Featuring in the Malaysia Cup, Thailand’s King Cup and the Southeast Asian Games (then known as the South East Asian Peninsula Games), among other international tournaments, he was known for his powerful shooting capabilities from long range. Locally, he was a prominent name in International Contract Specialists (now Geylang International FC) which played in the Business Houses Football League and other FAS tournaments in the 1970s.
In the late 1990s, Mr Arshad immigrated to Canada after his retirement.
Our thoughts are with Mr Arshad’s family in this difficult time.
A one-minute silence will be observed before tonight’s international friendly between Singapore and Mongolia at Bishan Stadium.
