Increased Singaporean presence in AFC Committees

SINGAPORE, 15 AUGUST 2019 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that three more members of the local footballing fraternity have been handed appointments in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Standing Committees for the term 2019 to 2023.

FAS Council member Mr Rizal Rasudin has been appointed as a member of the AFC Social Responsibility Committee. In accordance to AFC Statutes, the Social Responsibility Committees serves to ensure that AFC’s social responsibilities are discharged consistent with AFC’s policies and objectives, and to be a source of unity to the football family.

FAS General Secretary Mr Yazeen Buhari will be part of the AFC Associations Committee, which is responsible for relations between the AFC and its Member Associations as well as Member Associations’ compliance with FIFA and AFC Statutes and Regulations. The Associations Committee also draws up proposals for optimum cooperation.

FAS Referees Committee Deputy Chairman and FIFA Referee Instructor Mr John Chia has been appointed as a AFC Referees Committee member. The AFC Referees Committee is tasked with implementing, interpreting and proposing amendments to the Laws of the Game and the appointment of match officials for AFC-organised competitions.

The trio join FAS President Mr Lim Kia Tong, who was re-elected as Chairman of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee at the AFC Extraordinary Congress in June.
