SINGAPORE, 31 OCTOBER 2022 – Jungfrau Punggol FC (JP) have clinched the Singapore Football League (SFL) 2 title for the first time, having completed the 2022 season with 45 points. With the triumph, JP became the 14th winner of the competition.

With just two points separating JP and closest rivals Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) since Matchday 11, JP was only confirmed as champions at the final round of the season. JP’s 5-0 win against second-last Balestier United RC (BU) rendered SCC’s 2-0 win against South Avenue SC inconsequential.

The prize ceremony was held at the Jalan Besar Stadium after the match between JP and BU, with JP receiving S$7,500 along with the coveted trophy from Football Association of Singapore Acting President Bernard Tan.

While his team lost out on the title, SCC forward Chang Guo Guang clinched the  SFL 2 Top Scorer award having finished the season with 20 goals – 11 more than his closest competitor.

As the top two teams in the league, JP and SCC will be promoted to the SFL 1 next season. While SCC will be playing in the league for the first time since 2017, JP will be competing in the league for the first time.

At the other end of the table, BU and Commonwealth Cosmos FC will be relegated to the Island Wide League (IWL) next season. The promoted teams will be made known at a later time with the IWL still ongoing.
