Krishna Ramachandra Steps Down As Tampines Chairman
SINGAPORE, 25 AUGUST 2017: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has confirmed that Mr Krishna Ramachandra has stepped down as Chairman of Tampines Rovers Football Club (TRFC) effective on 22 August 2017.
Mr Ramachandra had previously asked to step down, and the FAS has worked with Mr Ramachandra over the last few weeks to review matters concerning TRFC’s accounts, financial position and matters of governance as part of the preparation for the appointment of a new Chairman for TRFC.
Mr Edwin Tong, Vice President of the FAS, said: “We would like to thank Krishna for the work he has put in as Chairman of TRFC over the past couple of years. He has said that he will continue to contribute to Singapore football in other capacities in the future, and I am sure he will do so, and also make active and positive contributions to our football ecosystem.”
Added Mr Ramachandra: “It has been an enriching experience being involved with the S.League and Tampines Rovers. I have certainly learnt a lot during my tenure. Perhaps the most important thing I observed is that there was and there still remains a lot of passion and interest in football in Singapore – I hope that will eventually translate to the revival and resurgence of Singapore as a footballing nation.”
