SINGAPORE, 24 APRIL 2023 – Singapore Women’s National Team Head Coach Karim Bencherifa today named a final squad of 20 players for the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia next month.

The team will travel to Cambodia on 30 April 2023 and begin their Group B campaign 3 days later. Laos and Cambodia make up the other teams in the group. All of Singapore’s matches will be streamed live on Mediacorp’s meWATCH platform.

The final selection was trimmed from a provisional squad of 27 players that has been undergoing centralised training since their return from their Olympic 2024 qualifiers campaign in Thailand. The team has also recently concluded a three-day training camp in Kuala Lumpur.

Coach Karim retained the bulk of the squad from the recent Olympic 2024 qualifiers, which includes overseas-based players Putri Syaliza and Danelle Tan. Many of the players that made the cut had also made their historic debut in the 31st SEA Games last year in Vietnam. Nicole Lim, who currently plays for the University of Edinburgh football team, has been called for her first international duty of the year, and will follow the team to Cambodia. Notably, three players – Sitianiwati Rosielin, Lila Tan and Raudhah Kamis – will be making their first SEA Games appearance this year.

Coach Karim said: “The squad is a balanced mix of players who has international experience from playing in overseas clubs, senior players who have had multiple opportunities in representing the country, as well as young players who possess youthful exuberance. I am hopeful that the team possesses all the necessary ingredients to execute our plan in Cambodia, including quality players, high level of fitness, good strategies, and great team spirit”.

For Raudhah, the 24-year-old told FAS.org.sg that she was thrilled to have been selected to represent the country at the prestigious competition for the first time. The forward made her debut in the senior team at 18 years of age and now holds 22 caps, with the Olympic 2024 qualifiers in Thailand early this month being her most recent international competition. On the local front, she plays for Hougang United in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and is currently one of the top scorers in the league with three goals in two matches.

Raudhah said: “I am honoured to represent my country at the SEA Games this year for the first time. Just like many before me, it is a dream come true; to be able to be a part of a team that has made a memorable debut last year is a privilege I cherish greatly. We’ve been training for the competition intensively as soon as our Olympic qualifiers campaign in Thailand ended, so I believe the team stands a chance to produce even better results.
