SINGAPORE, 16 SEPTEMBER 2021 – The Singapore Men’s National Team will find out their group-stage opponents for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2020 during the Official Draw next Tuesday, 21 September.
The draw will be conducted virtually for the first time in the tournament’s history due to COVID-19 concerns and is scheduled to start at 3pm. The tournament is set to be held between 5 December 2021 to 1 January 2022, with further details to be shared in due course, according to the AFF.
Tatsuma Yoshida’s charges, seeded seventh, have been placed in Pot 4, together with Cambodia (eighth seed). Pot 1 contains defending champions Vietnam and record five-time winners Thailand (joint-top seeds), Pot 2 has Malaysia (third seed) and Myanmar (fourth seed), Pot 3 comprises the Philippines and Indonesia (joint-fifth seeds), and Pot 5 is made up of Laos (ninth seed) and the winner of the qualification round between Timor Leste (10th seed) and Brunei (11th seed). The seedings were decided based on each team’s rankings points that were accrued over the 2016 and 2018 editions.
