OSAKA, JAPAN, 22 OCTOBER 2018 – The Singapore National Team arrived in Osaka, Japan late on Sunday afternoon for their training camp in preparation for the upcoming ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup.

The Lions returned from Cambodia last Thursday after their 2-0 win, and went straight back to training the next day. The players enjoyed a precious day off on Saturday before catching the red-eye flight to Osaka, where they will spend two weeks at J-GREEN Sakai.

Opened in April 2012, J-GREEN Sakai boasts five full-size natural turf football pitches, nine artificial turf fields and eight futsal pitches.

Zulfadhmi Suzliman, who plays for Tampines Rovers FC shared: “The facilities here are great. They have everything here from artificial pitches to natural turf fields. We’ll be training hard as a team and I believe that through this camp we will be able to work better as a team.”

The team will play three training matches against Japanese teams during their time in Japan. M. Anumanthan, who featured in all of the Lions’ 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup group-stage matches, said: “We are going to make the most of this training camp. The teams we will be playing [during this camp] may be in a different class, but it is important that we go up and compete against them.

“I’m confident of my team’s capabilities, and it’s important that we don’t fear anyone. The team has a positive mindset and a lot of energy. We are bonding well as a team, and with the young blood coming in, this will pay dividends on the pitch.”

The Lions will return to Singapore on 2 November, with only a week to go before the opening group-stage game against Indonesia.
