Lions Squad For AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 Finalised

SINGAPORE, 18 NOVEMBER 2016: Singapore coach V. Sundram Moorthy has today confirmed the final 23-man National Team squad that will be representing the country at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2016.

The squad has an average age of 27.48, with the most-capped player being captain Shahril Ishak with 130 appearances for Singapore.

‚ÄúWe have been preparing and training hard for this competition and it’s time for us to demonstrate our capabilities and strengths to the football community and fans in this region. Every team will kick off the Suzuki Cup on an equal footing and we are determined to do our best for Singapore. We appreciate the well wishes from our fans and we look forward to their continued support throughout our AFF Suzuki Cup campaign,‚Äù said Shahril.

Added Coach V. Sundram Moorthy: “Every player has been working hard in the lead up to the AFF Suzuki Cup. Our final 23-man squad includes a good mix of experienced and young players and we will strive to do our best in the competition. Every team in this group is strong and we need to remain focused and disciplined throughout the matches.”

Singapore will kick off its AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 campaign against Group A hosts Philippines, before playing against Thailand on 22 November and wrapping up the group stage against Indonesia on 25 November.
