Lions To Participate In The Inaugural AYA Bank Cup

SINGAPORE, 27 MAY 2016: The Football Association of Singapore today announced that the Singapore National ‚ÄòA‚Äô Team will be participating in the inaugural AYA Bank Cup as part of the team‚Äôs preparations for the year-end AFF Suzuki Cup. The quadrangular friendly tournament, to be held from 3 to 6 June 2016, will feature the National Teams of host Myanmar, Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Singapore will meet Myanmar in Group A on 3 June while Vietnam will be facing Hong Kong in Group B. The winners of both matches will proceed to the final to be held on 6 June. There will also be a third and fourth placing match on the same day as the final.

Coach, National Team, V. Sundram Moorthy has selected a squad of 23, including two uncapped players – Amy Recha from Geylang International FC and Azhar Sairudin from Home United FC. He said: “This will be my first major challenge as the Coach of the National Team. The AYA Bank Cup is an important tournament as we hone our preparations leading up to the year-end AFF Suzuki Cup. I have faith in all the players I have called up, and I will be using this tournament to test a few players out and observe the team’s performance.”
