SINGAPORE, 18 OCTOBER 2018: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) today announced that by mutual agreement, Michel Sablon will be leaving the FAS on 31 December 2018.

FAS President Mr Lim Kia Tong said: “We would like to thank Michel Sablon for his relentless efforts in the past three years in setting the system for the development of Singapore football. He has put in place various programmes and given great guidance to our coaches, to develop their capabilities such that they can now operate at a far higher level than before.

Mr Sablon said: “I joined the FAS because I was attracted by the FAS’ vision of developing football in the nation. I have highlighted that FAS’ key strengths is in its leadership and management team, which I have worked closely with, and I thank the FAS ExCo for sharing the vision we have for youth development in Singapore as well as their support in the past three years. I have faith that with their leadership, as well as with the full support of all stakeholders, the plans which I have put in place will produce the results we desire in time to come.”

Mr Sablon was appointed as the FAS Technical Director in April 2015 to oversee the development of football in Singapore. In August 2015, he launched the Grassroots Manual, which has been adopted by the ActiveSG Football Academy. The FAS Development Plan, which encompassed 11 key areas, was unveiled in May 2016, with the aim to implement the same development philosophy for all of Singapore.

Some of the initiatives he implemented include changes to both primary and secondary school football competitions, to coach education, and the Goalkeeper Academy.
