Pre-academy For Goalkeepers Aged 7-10 To Be Launched
SINGAPORE, 27 AUGUST 2016: The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that it will be introducing brand-new Pre-Academy sessions from 10 September as part of the new Goalkeeper Academy Singapore (GAS). It will cater to boys aged 7-10, providing a seamless pathway for children interested in becoming goalkeepers to progress from ages 7-18 under a modern vision of goalkeeping.
“Response to the GAS has been very positive, and we are already seeing many players improving tremendously under this programme. We therefore felt it would be even better to start developing them from a younger age, so that they are absorbing the ideas and concepts of proactive goalkeeping and putting them into practice,” said FAS Goalkeeper Coach Frederic De Boever.
“We are mindful that children at that age get bored easily, so we have taken pains to make the sessions challenging but fun. We firmly believe this will help Singapore to continue producing top goalkeepers in the long term,” asserted Mr De Boever.
The GAS Pre-Academy has weekly sessions every Saturday from 8.00-9.00am at the Jalan Besar Stadium. All goalkeepers aged 7-10 are welcome, but they must be Singapore citizens and must register beforehand. On-the-spot registration is not allowed due to planning requirements for the sessions. Interested participants may register via email to [email protected].
