PVF retains FAS Under-15 International Challenge Cup title
SINGAPORE, 1 DECEMBER 2018 – Promotion Fund of Vietnamese Football Talents (PVF) from Vietnam won the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) Under-15 International Challenge Cup for a third straight year after a 1-0 victory over Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) at the Jalan Besar Stadium this evening.
The two teams were closely matched in the final and were separated only by a penalty from Nguyen Hong Phuc, which sealed victory for PVF.
In attendance today were FAS President Mr Lim Kia Tong and Vice-President Mr Razali Saad, who presented the trophies and medals to the champions PVF and first runners-up JDT. Second and third runners-up Matsumoto Yamaga FC from Japan and Singapore Under-15 National Team were also recognised tonight, after finishing in third and fourth in the table after the group stage.
The Fair Play award was given to Matsumoto Yamaga FC, while their goalkeeper Kota Okamoto received the best goalkeeper award. JDT midfielder Amirul Faqhi was also presented the Most Valuable Player award.
PVF Head Coach Moulay Lahsen Wallen said: “I am very happy with the team’s win. It is my first year with the team, but it is the team’s third win and I am proud of the boys. I would also like to congratulate the organising committee for a well-run tournament with competitive games for the teams.”
