SINGAPORE, 5 DECEMBER 2019 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce that registration for the Match Commissioner and Venue Manager Seminar 2020 is now open.

As the FAS embarks on a new campaign to improve and enhance match-day administration and operations, the role of a Match Commissioner (MC) has become increasingly key. These individuals are responsible for ensuring that all FAS-sanctioned matches, from the Singapore Premier League to the youth leagues, are properly organized.

The two-day Seminar, which will be held in January 2020, will equip participants with the necessary skills to become a fully-fledged MC. The main criteria for this role are having a good standing in the Singapore football scene and a strong passion for the game. MCs should also possess excellent communication skills, basic proficiency in IT and the ability to find creative solutions to unique challenges. The full list of criteria can be found HERE (click link).

During the Seminar, the FAS will also introduce the role of Venue Managers (VM) for the FAS-MOE League 1 Schools Competition in 2020. The roles and responsibilities of a VM is similar to that of a MC wherein that the VM is responsible for ensuring that the match is organized in accordance to the competition regulations. VMs are expected to be available for match duties on weekdays between 2-7pm.

At the end of the seminar, potential MCs and VMs will be required to showcase the knowledge they have obtained through theory and practical examinations. In order to become a licensed MC and/or VM, candidates will need to pass both these components.

Successful participants will join the current roster of FAS MCs, who have been carefully selected by the FAS Competitions Division after a thorough and rigorous selection process.
